You know that feeling you get after you do your hair your favorite way, or paint your nails your go-to color? You probably feel happier, more confident, and more, well, like yourself.
As #GLUGirls, we want everyone to feel that way. We don’t take care of ourselves to look a certain way, or to just blindly follow trends, we do it so we can show up every day as our favorite version of ourselves.
This year for Giving Tuesday, we’ve partnered up with GlamourGals, a national organization that connects girls like you with seniors living in residential care to bring out the best in each other. In normal times, GlamourGals (GG, as we know them) provides complimentary makeovers to seniors but it’s about so much more than that. GG is all about connection, companionship, and creativity—just like we are!
But times are far from normal, so GG continues to find unique ways to develop relationships and enhance lives. To keep seniors from feeling isolated in quarantine, we’re replacing the makeovers with letter writing to support their #mydearfriend campaign, and we invite you to join us!
On Giving Tuesday, we’ll be donating 10% of sales to GlamourGals on #GivingTuesday, starting November 30th through December 3rd, so spread the word!
Just like growing up, growing old can feel like a big poke in the eye—so why go it alone?
The seniors GG serves were once girls just like us, and we probably have more in common than we could even dream of. Writing letters is not only a great way for us to give back, it’s also a cool way to find some unexpected friendships, and learn a little bit from one another.
