GLU Glossary: Skincare Edition

We love skincare here at GLU, and preach how important having a skincare routine is. But, what does skincare really mean? Our products are packed with tons of powerful ingredients that will help you achieve healthy, thriving skin. But, it’s important that YOU know what you’re putting on your skin.


We’ve created a GLU Glossary of our products and their active ingredients, along with the benefits of those ingredients. Get ready to experience the magic of our products, and use this as a guide to see which GLU products work best for your skin!


All Clear Here Cleanser

AHA/BHA: AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid and BHA stands for Beta Hydroxy Acid. There are two AHAs in this: Glycolic and Lactic Acid and one form of BHA: Salicylic Acid. AHA/BHA works to:

  • Remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface
  • Remove excess oils and sebum from clogged pores
  • Increase moisture in skin 

  • Seeing Spots Cleanser

    Willowbark Extract: A natural form of salicylic acid 

    Honey Extract: A natural form of glycolic acid

    Polysaccharides: A carbohydrate that is necessary for healthy skin

  • Increase moisture and water retention in skin 
  • Remove dirt, sebum, and daily build up from clogged pores
  • Restore and renew skin’s natural texture 

  • Blue Light Special 

    Ascorbic Acid: Derived from Vitamin C, ascorbic acid is necessary for collagen production.

    Marine Collagen Bioferment: Derived from red algae from the Hawaiian Islands, this bio-fermented ingredient is a groundbreaking ingredient for skincare.

  • Increases collagen production, which is important for healing acne marks and hyperpigmentation
  • Reduces redness and soothes irritated skin
  • Increases hydration
  • Blocks blue light, which we encounter on a daily basis

    Screen Time SPF 30 Sunscreen 

    Zinc Oxide: A mineral that blocks UV rays from penetrating the skin. 

    Vitamin E: An antioxidant that promotes healthy moisture levels in skin.

    Japanese Green Tea Extract: An extract that helps to soothe redness and inflammation. 

  • Reduce inflammation and redness in skin 
  • Fight off acne-causing bacteria
  • Regulate sebum production in skin

  • So Sage Moisturizer

    Sage, Watercress, and Lemon Bioflavonoids: An antioxidant that is derived from fruits and vegetables.

    Vitamin A: An antioxidant that is a mix of retinoids and beta-carotene. Good sources of Vitamin A include leafy greens, fruits, and dairy products. 

    Vitamin C: Vitamin C is the parent of ascorbic acid and required for collagen production. Good sources of Vitamin C are fruits and vegetables, such as citrus fruits and tomatoes. 

    Vitamin E: An antioxidant that is derived from alpha- tocopherol. Good sources of Vitamin E include nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils. 

  • Increase production of collagen and new skin cells
  • Fight free radicals which are responsible for premature wrinkles, dark spots, and fine lines. 
  • Reduce appearance of acne marks and hyperpigmentation 
  • Moisturizes skin to reduce redness 



  • Papaya Loves Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask

    Papaya Enzymes: Derived from papaya, these enzymes act as a catalyst for chemical exfoliation. 

    Pumpkin Seed Extract: This extract from pumpkin seeds is important to maintaining the natural health and structure of your skin. 

    Avocado Oil: This oil is packed with beta-carotene, fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E which all work to support healthy skin.

    Beeswax: Beeswax acts as a humectant, which works to increase moisture in the skin. Beeswax is also a natural exfoliant. 

    Kaolin Clay: Derived from the mineral kaolinite, this ingredient is great for purifying the skin.

    Tapioca Starch: This starch is extracted from the cassava root, this starch works to remove excess oils from the skin.

  • Soothes and calms redness, irritation, and inflammation
  • Moisturizes and softens dry skin
  • Removes excess dirt and oils from pores

    Sulfur: This is a natural element found in plants, soil, and water which has antibacterial properties. 

    Camphor: Camphor is made from the distilled bark and wood of the camphor tree that is native to Japan, China, Taiwan, and Korea. In skincare, this ingredient helps reduce irritation and redness.

  • Removes excess dirt and oils from pores
  • Brightens complexion
  • Prevent future breakouts
  • Protect open blemishes from further infection

    Argan Oil: This oil is derived from Argan Trees that are native to Morocco. 

    Vitamin E: An antioxidant that is derived from alpha- tocopherol. Good sources of Vitamin E include nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils.

    Retinol: A form of vitamin A that is vital for fighting off acne and bacterial infections by increasing collagen production and cellular regeneration.

    Silk Amino Acids: Derived from silk proteins, this ingredient is known to be great at fighting dry or dehydrated skin.

  • Soothes redness and irritation
  • Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Protects against bacterial infections
